When Prince was a young teenager, he loved basketball but wasn’t as tall as the other kids on the team. He was teased and bullied, so he was a little shy in the beginning. But as he got older, he taught himself how to play music, which became his obsession.

He didn’t let the haters get him down, so he stayed true to himself and became a legendary performer. He could write songs, sing, play, and dance very, very well. He had a very unique way of dressing in a romantic style with lace and tight clothing. He blended genders by wearing makeup and heels.

Students added a little white glue to their portrait of Prince to attach 3 pieces of lace to form a cravat. They used purple to celebrate his favorite color of all time.

Makes a great lesson for black history month or any time of the year.
