As we enter the holiday season, many teachers have begun looking for fun activities to create packets, games, and coloring sheets for their students to do at their desks. I’ve created some very cute and fun games using illustrations that speak to 21st century kids. You know, I have to admit, that there are some OLD and OUTDATED activity sheets out there. I believe that kids will be more interested in seat work if the pictures are contemporary, in the style that they like, instead of old-fashioned artwork. These days, you can’t go wrong with anime or kawaii styles, with their large eyes with several white circles in them, big heads, and stylish hair. You also can’t go wrong with silly faces, wiggly arms, pie eyes, and smiles.
I have learned how to make BINGO cards as well. Now, it’s not as easy as it sounds. There are different ways of playing, some of which don’t even involve the letters B-I-N-G-O. You can create a set of BINGO cards using only words or pictures. It actually makes the game go by a little faster, if that’s what you like. Or, there are variations like Blackout, to make the game last longer. Any way you slice it, simply provide some kind of chips or markers for your students (they always get the center space FREE). I’ve included a call sheet to help you keep track of what you’ve called because you’ll need to check on the winners when they get 5 in a row. I also know that not all teachers have access to full color copiers or printers, so most of my BINGO downloads contain a set of full color cards AND a full set of black and white cards which are easy on toner and allows students to color them.
So, I’ve put together several brand new BINGO sets, including a Full Color Christmas Picture BINGO, Winter Number BINGO, Christmas Picture BINGO (includes b+w and full color), Autum BINGO with words, and Christmas BINGO with words. Younger students will have a great time finding the pictures (watch out! Some of the pictures are very similar!), and older students learn how to spell using the word versions. Because many teachers have been searching specifically for Christmas activities, I’ve made some of those as well as some winter-themed activities to include everyone who doesn’t celebrate Christmas.
Not only have I been making BINGO cards, but also activity packets! Check out this super cute Christmas Activity Book and Autumn Activity Book!
