My kindergarteners already knew the song I Love Rock n Roll, but this week, they learned the story behind who sings it. They learned that some people thought girls couldn’t play rock n roll music. WHAAAT?! Joan Jett was in an all-girl band called The Runaways when she was a teenager. It seemed like they were always fighting, and Joan was the one who took the music the most seriously. So she went out on her own and not only started a band, but she made her own music label. She was told NO so many times, she decided to do it all herself. And we love her for it!
